Dear Diary was an installation and performance commissioned by Tac2Stay, a festival with a hotel theme. Fraser & Ellens constructed a typical teenage girl’s bedroom from the year 1998. Genuine teenage diaries from that year were exhibited. The audience was invited to join the artist’s in the intimate space and share secrets through anonymous diary entries, which were added to the exhibition throughout the performance. The artists took the audience on a nostalgic journey, creating a daytime slumber party, complete with pillow fights, makeovers and secrets. They created the ultimate safe space in which to remember and explore the memories and contradictions of teenage life.
